PATTERNS OF COLLEGE EXPERIENCES.
WARREN, JONATHAN R.
THE IDENTIFICATION AND EVALUATION OF STUDENT TYPES AND THE INTERACTION OF THEIR COLLEGE EXPERIENCES WERE REPORTED. RANDOM SAMPLES OF COLLEGE FRESHMEN WERE EACH ISSUED FOUR INSTRUMENTS AND A QUESTIONNAIRE. APPROXIMATELY 560 RESPONDED. A SAMPLING WAS ALSO MADE ON APPROXIMATELY 130 ADDITIONAL STUDENTS TO PERMIT COMPARISONS OF BEHAVIORAL PATTERNS FOR RESIDENT AND NONRESIDENT STUDENTS. THE INSTRUMENTS USED INCLUDED A CHECKLIST, TWO DIFFERENTIAL INSTRUMENTS, AND A TYPE INDICATOR. ANALYSES CONSISTED OF FACTORIAL METHODS AND ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE. INDICATIONS OF DIFFERENCES APPEARED IN BEHAVIORAL PATTERNS, LEVELS OF SOCIAL CLASS, AND SEX, ALTHOUGH THE DIFFERENCES WERE SMALL. ATTITUDES, BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS, AND BEHAVIORAL PATTERNS WERE IDENTIFIED. AN EXPLORATION OF ANXIETY LEVELS TO UNDERSTAND LATE-ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT WAS MENTIONED AS A POSSIBILITY FOR FUTURE RESEARCH. (RS)
