SAMPLES OF THE EXPERIMENTAL MATERIALS USED IN THE BASIC STUDY, ED 003 628, WERE PRESENTED IN APPENDIXES FOR EACH OF THE FOUR EXPERIMENTS. AN EXISTING PROGRAM IN ELEMENTARY SET THEORY WAS MODIFIED IN EXPERIMENT ONE TO REDUCE THE UNITS OF INFORMATION PRESENTED IN EACH FRAME AND, IN A SECOND CASE, TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF UNITS PER FRAME. SAMPLE PROGRAMED SECTIONS AND TESTS WERE PRESENTED. EXPERIMENT TWO MATERIALS INVOLVED SIX PROGRAMS WHICH WERE USED TO DETERMINE THE EFFECTS OF VARYING THE NUMBER OF ATTRIBUTES PRESENTED PER FRAME ON ACQUISITION IN THE ASSOCIATION STAGE OF LEARNING. EXPERIMENT THREE MATERIALS CONTAINED GENERAL BIOLOGY TEACHING FRAMES FOLLOWED BY PRACTICE ITEMS. MATERIALS USED IN EXPERIMENT FOUR INVOLVED FOUR DIFFERENT FORMS OF A PROGRAM ON THE ELEMENTARY CONCEPTS OF MATURATION AND GROWTH. (JM)
