THIS MONOGRAPH REPORTED ON THE CONCEPTUALIZATION OF CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION IN URBAN SCHOOLS. BY COMBINING THE CONCURRENT CLASSROOM OBSERVATIONS OF THE INSTRUCTOR AND A GRADUATE STUDENT IN THE CLASS, A MODEL WAS DEVELOPED TO AQUAINT CONCERNED INDIVIDUALS WITH THOSE SUBTLETIES OF A CULTURE WITH WHICH THEY MAY BE UNFAMILIAR AND TO DEVELOP LANGUAGE TO PROMOTE MORE PRODUCTIVE RESEARCH. DESCRIPTIONS ARE INCLUDED OF SCHOOL BEGININGS, CLASSROOM PROCESSES, THE FLOW OF THE SEMESTER, THE CULTURALLY DEPRIVED CHILD IN THE CLASSROOM AND THE SCHOOL, AND RECONCEPTUALIZING TEACHING.
