A REPORT OF THE WESTERN REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON EDUCATIONAL MEDIA RESEARCH HELD AT SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA, APRIL 20-22, 1960, WAS PRESENTED. THE CONFERENCE WAS HELD TO REVIEW AND HELP CHART FUTURE DIRECTIONS IN RESEARCH, EXPERIMENTATION, AND THE DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION RELATIVE TO NEW INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA. THE CONFERENCE HAD FOUR PURPOSES--TO PROVIDE CURRENT INFORMATION REGARDING TITLE VII POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AND TO STIMULATE ADDITIONAL INTEREST IN THE OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE UNDER TITLE VII OF THE NATIONAL DEFENSE EDUCATION ACT TO PROVIDE AN OCCASION FOR EXCHANGING INFORMATION REGARDING CURRENT TITLE VII PROJECTS AND OTHER RESEARCH IN THE USE OF MOTION PICTURE, TELEVISION, RADIO, OR OTHER NEW MEDIA TO IDENTIFY AREAS OF NEEDED RESEARCH INVOLVING THE USE OF NEW TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS IN COMMUNICATION AND TO EXPLORE METHODS FOR EFFECTIVE DISSEMINATION OF RESEARCH FINDINGS AND FOR THE RELATED IMPLEMENTATION OF BETTER METHODS OF INSTRUCTION INVOLVING THE USE OF THE NEW MEDIA.
