PROGRESS WHICH HAS BEEN MADE IN SCHOOL DESEGREGATION SINCE 1954 IS REPORTED. EACH OF 17 SOUTHERN AND BORDER STATES, PLUS THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, IS REPORTED SEPARATELY. THE STATUS OF SEGREGATION-DESEGREGATION IS DISCUSSED IN TERMS OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS, TEACHERS, INSTITUTES OF HIGHER EDUCATION, FACULTIES, AND SPECIAL SCHOOLS FOR THE BLIND, THE DEAF, THE RETARDED, THE HANDICAPPED, AND DELINQUENTS.
